[Update] We’re adding a new service for all App Engine projects on Apr. 17, 2023

Service Usage API will be added to enabled services in your console.

MY CONSOLE

Hello Tee,

We are writing to let you know that we will activate the service appenginereporting.googleapis.com on all App Engine projects on April 17, 2023.

What do you need to know?

As we continue to update the underlying infrastructure for App Engine, we are improving our integration with certain GCP shared services (e.g. Billing, Quota Management, etc.). Because of this integration, we must enable a service on all App Engine projects to properly tie-in to these shared services.

This new service will be added as part of ongoing infrastructure modernization, and will be necessary to support various aspects of metrics reporting and quotas. We are using a new service to avoid unintended side effects related to the existing App Engine services (appengine.googleapis.com and appengineflex.googleapis.com).

The new Service Usage API will have no impact on existing apps, no impact on billing, and has no external API. The only change customers will see is appenginereporting.googleapis.com added to the list of enabled services in their Cloud Console and when running gcloud services list.

What do you need to do?

No action is required on your part. However, we recommend that you don't disable appenginereporting.googleapis.com service while still using App Engine. If you disable this service, it might result in some issues with certain activities (like viewing quotas in your Cloud Console).

Your impacted projects are below:

Thanks for choosing App Engine.

[Update] New Cloud Autoscaling API will be enabled for your GKE-enabled projects

Cloud Autoscaling API will become a required dependency starting April 2023.
Google Cloud Platform
MY CONSOLE

Hello Tee,

We are constantly working to raise the bar for you and are planning to boost the industry leading scalability and speed of auto scaling features even further. As part of this goal, we will enable the new Cloud Autoscaling API for all projects with the Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) API starting in April 2023. At a later date, Cloud Autoscaling API will become a required dependency for collecting metrics from GKE nodes for the purpose of using enhanced GKE autoscaling capabilities.

What do you need to know?

Cloud Autoscaling API enabled will not cause any changes in the configuration settings or behavior of a GKE cluster. This includes any autoscaling configuration, and any Horizontal Pod Autoscaling (HPA) or Vertical Pod Autoscaling (VPA) objects running in a GKE cluster.

Note: Later this year GKE will provide an option to use the Cloud Autoscaling API to enable improved scalability of Horizontal and Vertical Pod Autoscaling features.

What do you need to do?

No action is required on your part.

If you are using or plan to use GKE autoscaling features (HPA, VPA), ensure that any tooling, which automates the creation or management of GCP projects or their APIs (e.g., Terraform), is configured such that it does not disable the Cloud Autoscaling API.

Your project(s) listed below will have the Cloud Autoscaling API enabled, starting April, 2023 if not disabled:

Thanks for choosing Google Kubernetes Engine.
